Roger is the Chief Scientist of Analytics Engines Ltd., and also Research Director of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Cluster at Queen's University, Belfast. His research includes computing acceleration technologies for signal and data processing and edge computing for data analytics. He is on the advisory board to the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on the Design and Implementation of Signal Processing Systems and has been Vice-Chairman of the Engineering Policy Group Northern Ireland since 2012. He has also acted as expert on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to the Northern Ireland Assembly. He has published over 200 research papers and has been general chair of numerous conferences including Field Programmable Logic (FPL2001), Applied Reconfigurable Computing (ARC2009, ARC2011) and the Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (USA, Nov. 2014) and of course, Big Data Belfast since 2013.
