Nathan O’Reilly, EMEA Regional CTO & Technical Director of Citi Services Transformation

EMEA Regional CTO, with responsibilities for management of the regional technology Engineering team of ~550 FTE across the EMEA region.  Nathan works closely with the regional CIOs to execute on the corporate IT strategy, has technical ownership of many of the larger regional infrastructure initiatives and provides a trusted internal technical consultancy service to Citi businesses.  Another function of this role is to manage technology vendor relationships and to represent the firm in an executive capacity at many regional IT and cross business engagements and engage with the emerging technology arena to identify opportunities to keep Citi at the forefront of the industry.

As Technical Director of Citi Service transformation initiative, Nathan is responsible for driving the technology agenda and for building and maintaining a robust, valuable and powerful enterprise platform that leverages our technologies at Citi.  He leads a global team and has oversight and management of the development and deployment of technology platforms into the business. This role involves working in close partnership with the Smart Automation Centre and other technical and operations teams to select, introduce and enable the right technologies to support and drive this exciting initiative.  Services Strategy: 2020 was launched as a Board level strategy at Citi to transform our operational processes by introducing technologies to reshape and optimize the practises we use across operations.  The transformation needs go beyond traditional process improvement, using disruptive technology-enabled capabilities such as Robotic Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine and Cognitive Learning to digitize and automate our processes and customer interactions.  Our technologies add value to the customer and employee experience, making a real and visible impact on how we do our business and serve our stakeholders. 

Before the move to his current role Nathan was Citi Global Engineering Head of Unified Communications, ensuring that the firm has an enterprise class infrastructure to support our current and projected strategies in regard to these technologies.  

He has also served in multiple strategic and operational roles in Citi over a 20+ year period both in the UK and in Australia.  

Prior to Citi, Nathan worked in a number of technical roles at Siemens Nixdorf, Sun Microsystems and British Airways.

Nathan holds a Higher National Certificate in Electronic Engineering & Computer Science from East Warwickshire College, UK.

Nathan is married with 4 children, is a keen cyclist and a junior rugby coach.
